The Golden State Arc

Most of the country waits for Memorial Day. California doesn't. The Golden State Arc runs one festival a month from February to August — beach reggae in winter, desert spectacle in spring, wine country in May, mountain camping in July, and a finale under the fog in Golden Gate Park. This is a calendar, not a road trip: the map line jumps around the state because the season does. Follow the whole arc or drop in for a month — either way, you're on Pacific Standard now.
